WHEN DID YOU START DEVELOPING A WEIGHT PROBLEM?

I started to develop a weight problem once I hit puberty.

HOW DID YOUR WEIGHT AFFECT ANY ASPECT(S) OF YOUR LIFE?
My weight affected my life by me being very antisocial and depressed. I hated what started at me back in the mirror. I just generally hated being me.

WHAT WAS THE “TURNING POINT” THAT GOT YOU STARTED ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY?
My turning point was when I was pre-diabetic. I come from a blood line of a lot of diabetics, both parents and both grandparents on both sides. I didnt want that for my life, i saw how my family struggled. Also I was diagnosed with PCOS at age 17 and I wanted to be able to have kids ones day. And my weight was in the way of that.

HOW DID YOU GET STARTED?
I went to go see a surgeon to see what my options were. I couldn’t shred the weight off because i of my PCOS.

HOW LONG AFTER YOU STARTED DID YOU BEGIN TO SEE RESULTS OF YOUR WEIGHT LOSS EFFORTS?
Right away. I had VSG (vertical sleeve gastrectomy) the pounds started to come off.

WHAT WAS THE HARDEST PART?
Going to the gym. I was so self conscious about everything that it gave me anxiety to go to the gym

DID YOU EVER WANT TO GIVE UP? WHAT KEPT YOU GOING?
Never. My family was a big part of pushing me, he always helped me and kept me motivated.

DID YOU HIT ANY WEIGHT LOSS PLATEAUS? HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THEM?
With the surgery there is always weight loss plateaus you just cant get discourage and push youself and never give up!

HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO LOSE MOST OF THE WEIGHT?
7 months

DID YOU HAVE ANY NON-SCALE VICTORIES?
YES! Being able to fit into a size 12!!

WHAT DOES YOUR DAILY DIET LOOK LIKE COMPARED TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
A lot better. I eat a lot less and a lot healthier.

HOW DOES YOUR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY COMPARE TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
I can finally run and walk up stairs without being winded. That was one of my goals!
