85 lbs and Half Marathon later
After struggling with my weight throughout my early 20’s I decided in January that 2012 would finally be my year of change.
I joined a gym and actually used my membership, in years past I guess I thought just paying for the membership would help me lose the weight. I also focused on what I was eating and why I was eating it.
I often ate because I was bored and really not because I was hungry. Going to the gym definitely got rid of that boredom! After 5 months of eating right and going to the gym daily I had lost 50 lbs and I was so proud of what I had accomplished, but I knew I still had a lot of work to do.
I decided to take on a challenge that I never thought possible, a half marathon! After 3 months of training I ran my first half marathon on December 9, 2012 and it felt absolutely amazing to cross that finish line 85 lbs lighter than I was a year ago! I’m now training for my next half marathon in March 2013!
I know if I can do it anyone can do it! It just takes believing in yourself, you have more willpower than you think!
