WHEN DID YOU START DEVELOPING A WEIGHT PROBLEM?

7 months. 75 pounds. I don’t even recognize that girl on the left. But I remember everything she felt, the pain and embarrassment and all of her insecurities. I remember how badly she wanted to love and find herself but she didn’t know how. It took her an additional 7 months after that photo to wake up and realize that it was time to start. I was always tired and never wanted to do anything except sleep in, eat and watch tv. I had rapidly gained weight in 2015 and I was constantly buying bigger clothes. It wasn’t until I went back to TN in January that I realized it was time for a change. I came back to DC, went to the store and stocked the kitchen with healthy food. My eating habits completely changed and I kicked my ass in the gym everyday. It wasn’t always easy, and still isn’t. There are days where I just break down. Days that I can’t believe who I have become and days when I don’t know who I am becoming. Days where I feel I’ll always be that girl on the left. Days where I look in the mirror and I still see that girl on the left. And then I have days where I feel unstoppable. 6 months ago I couldn’t even run for 60 seconds without being completely out of breath, and now I can run 6 miles. I don’t always eat as healthy as I should, and there are days that I miss my workouts. But I don’t let it stop me, and I don’t let it bring me down. I am overcome by so many emotions looking at these two pictures. The biggest one(s) being happiness and gratitude. It is an amazing feeling to have accomplished this, and to hit 75! I definitely could have not done this alone though. I have received a lot of support from my friends and family. But the one person who has given me more support than I could have ever asked for is Andrew. He has been there for me when I didn’t even want to be there. He has pushed me to be great and has always stood by me. I couldn’t be more thankful to have him in my life. I still have a few more pounds to lose and I can’t wait to hit my goal! This has been an amazing experience and I can’t wait to see what else I accomplish!
