WHEN DID YOU START DEVELOPING A WEIGHT PROBLEM?

I was 28 years. I couldn’t control my weight. I was pregnant, and a complication resulted in four months of bed rest—and I got to 205.03 pounds. Shortly after i had my son, i and my family moved from one city to another, isolated from friends and extended family, i turned to food for comfort. With the scale stuck at 205.03 pounds,, i was completely overwhelmed by how much I needed to lose weight.

HOW DID YOUR WEIGHT AFFECT ANY ASPECT(S) OF YOUR LIFE?
I didn’t shy away from any social event but i couldn’t wear a tight dress to any social event because my stomach bulges out and i was very shy because of it. My best clothes were jeans and big shirts. The big shirts were hiding my big stomach.

WHAT WAS THE “TURNING POINT” THAT GOT YOU STARTED ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY?
The Change
By August 2015, I feared having a blood pressure because we have history of it in my family. I was becoming breathless sometimes. I knew my weight was the culprit. I gave myself 3 months to drop some pounds.

HOW DID YOU GET STARTED?
The Lifestyle
I tried crash diets and jogging, it didn’t work . I had to do some researches on google how to lose weight. I followed some coaches on instagram and facebook. I kept downloading healthy recipes. I saved their pictures on my pictures, looked at them daily and assure myself i would make it. I bought many books and started reading up.

HOW LONG AFTER YOU STARTED DID YOU BEGIN TO SEE RESULTS OF YOUR WEIGHT LOSS EFFORTS?
I started noticing some changes after a month but people didn’t notice it. After about 3 months, many people noticed and started asking me what i did.

WHAT WAS THE HARDEST PART?
Initially i didn’t get support from my family but i had to ignore all the bad words they said to me. My friends kept discouraging me. They said i have had a caesarian section and couldn’t lose my belly fat. They kept giving me examples of people they know that couldn’t lose their their belly fat after a CS. I ignored them completely

DID YOU EVER WANT TO GIVE UP? WHAT KEPT YOU GOING?
I have never for once wanted to give up because i made sure i visit about 7 weight loss pages daily. It kept me going.

DID YOU HIT ANY WEIGHT LOSS PLATEAUS? HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THEM?
No i didn’t hit any weight loss plateaus.

HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO LOSE MOST OF THE WEIGHT?
It took about a year.

DID YOU HAVE ANY NON-SCALE VICTORIES?
I had to drop all my clothes, my bra, my shoes and pants. Every part of my body got smaller in size.

WHAT DOES YOUR DAILY DIET LOOK LIKE COMPARED TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
I was taking about 1 bottle of soda a day. I ate about 10 pieces of meat everyday. I ate about half loaf of bread daily. I loved eating biscuits, sweets, butter. I ate a lot of processed foods. I enjoyed taking alcohol, about twice a week. I enjoyed fried foods. I also ate a lot when i get angry or stressed. I rarely ate vegetables. In fact i hated them.

HOW DOES YOUR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY COMPARE TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
My physical activity increased. I used to be sedentary but i take at least 30 mins walk daily. I have some beach body videos so i use them. Recently i have a gym membership.

MY WEIGHT LOSS TIPS & TRICKS

  1. I prepare my meals myself. I don’t eat out.
  2. I have pictures of bulky people all over my room and i tell myself i can do it.
  3. I make sure i have something to put in my mouth every 3 hours.
  4. I drink lots of water. About 5 liters a day.
  5. I have healthy food ingredients everywhere in my house and my family eats healthy now.
