WHEN DID YOU START DEVELOPING A WEIGHT PROBLEM?
I had always been a chubby teenager. I was never obese but I was the largest in my friendship group which made me feel that way. I knew in order to stop feeling self confident I had to lose weight for myself in order to like the way I looked

HOW DID YOUR WEIGHT AFFECT ANY ASPECT(S) OF YOUR LIFE?
It would affect my confidence at nights out and even down to talking to boys.

WHAT WAS THE “TURNING POINT” THAT GOT YOU STARTED ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY?
I went on a girls holiday and only say out by the pool 3 out of the 10 days and spent the rest upset in the room because of how I looked. No one had a problem with how I looked- it was just me and I knew that had to change for my confidence to grow.

HOW DID YOU GET STARTED?
I researched for ages online and found calorie counting. It took me 2 months to get the hang of the diet but then I started to incorporate the diet into my everyday life and it became a habit.

HOW LONG AFTER YOU STARTED DID YOU BEGIN TO SEE RESULTS OF YOUR WEIGHT LOSS EFFORTS?
It took about 3 months for people around me and for myself to notice. My clothes felt looser and I started to feel happier when people would see me and say ‘wow you’ve lost weight and look amazing’

WHAT WAS THE HARDEST PART?
I had to overcome my portion sizes. I used to eat huge meals then feel sluggish and had no energy. I gave up fizzy drinks for a good few months and only drank water which gave me positive effects like my skin being clearer.

DID YOU EVER WANT TO GIVE UP? WHAT KEPT YOU GOING?
There were times I thought there’s no point in this i still weigh the same. But what kept me going was how far I had already come and I knew if I gave up there and then it would of all been a waste of time.

DID YOU HIT ANY WEIGHT LOSS PLATEAUS? HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THEM?
I hit a plateau half way through for about 2 months. It really hit me hard as I was eating lower calories and felt hungry yet stayed the same. What helped was I researched on the Internet and found blogs that everyone went through the same and to keep at it. Knowing others go through the same really helps!

HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO LOSE MOST OF THE WEIGHT?
It took me 18 months of calorie counting

DID YOU HAVE ANY NON-SCALE VICTORIES?

WHAT DOES YOUR DAILY DIET LOOK LIKE COMPARED TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?

HOW DOES YOUR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY COMPARE TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?

MY WEIGHT LOSS TIPS & TRICKS

  1. Find lower calorie alternatives to your favourite meals. Then use these on your treat days and you feel like your eating the real thing!
  2. Talk to people on the same journey! Create a weight loss Instagram and talk to people on it- it really helps!
  3. Don’t compare your journey to anyone else’s! some will have started before you and everyone’s body is different!
  4. Don’t restrict yourself from any foods! Save some syns/calories after your meal for that chocolate bar you’ve been craving- you’ll just binge if you don’t!
  5. Don’t give up! The journey is never easy but remember- suck it up now and you won’t have to suck it in later!
