WHEN DID YOU START DEVELOPING A WEIGHT PROBLEM?
About 2 years ago I was in a deep depression. I came back from college and then found out my mom had terminal brain cancer. So I found the gym to help with my stress.
HOW DID YOUR WEIGHT AFFECT ANY ASPECT(S) OF YOUR LIFE?
I never did anything fun, I hid in baggy clothing. I was always anxious, feeling down and I didn’t feel like I was actually living.
WHAT WAS THE “TURNING POINT” THAT GOT YOU STARTED ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY?
I made a promise to my mom that I would be healthier and take care of my dad and brother after she passed.
HOW DID YOU GET STARTED?
My first step was moving. All I ever did was sit and watch TV, so I got a gym membership and actually went!
HOW LONG AFTER YOU STARTED DID YOU BEGIN TO SEE RESULTS OF YOUR WEIGHT LOSS EFFORTS?
I didn’t see results physically until month 3, but I felt better instantly
WHAT WAS THE HARDEST PART?
I wanted to be able to go out in public and not feel self conscious in everything I wore.
DID YOU EVER WANT TO GIVE UP? WHAT KEPT YOU GOING?
No! I look and feel so much better, so I just want to keep going and inspire people with my journey
DID YOU HIT ANY WEIGHT LOSS PLATEAUS? HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THEM?
Yes! I just had to add more cardio and remember it’s normal and I’m not perfect.
HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO LOSE MOST OF THE WEIGHT?
About 1.5 years
DID YOU HAVE ANY NON-SCALE VICTORIES?
Yes! I went down 4 pant sizes and I now wear size small tops!!
WHAT DOES YOUR DAILY DIET LOOK LIKE COMPARED TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
I ate when I was happy, sad, excited etc and it was a very social thing because it as comfortable.
HOW DOES YOUR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY COMPARE TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
I am sooo much better now then I used to be. I lift heavy in the gym and I can do cardio for hours more then I used to be able to. I ran a half marathon too!
MY WEIGHT LOSS TIPS & TRICKS
- I meal prepped 3 meals and 2 snacks. I packaged them and put down times of when I could eat them.
- I set mini goals and long term goals so I wouldn’t get overwhelmed
- I made myself a gym calendar and planned my workout
- I rewarded myself with lunch boxes, tattoos and cute things when I met small victories
- I made myself a Pinterest board full of inspirational pictures to keep me motivated
