WHEN DID YOU START DEVELOPING A WEIGHT PROBLEM?
I’ve been heavy for as long as I can remember
HOW DID YOUR WEIGHT AFFECT ANY ASPECT(S) OF YOUR LIFE?
It affected the way I felt. I was always tired and sluggish. Didn’t want to go out or do alot because I didn’t have anything to wear. I developed several aches and pains.
WHAT WAS THE “TURNING POINT” THAT GOT YOU STARTED ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY?
After so many attempts of starting and stopping, I prayed to God begging for strength to do it and do it right this time.
HOW DID YOU GET STARTED?
I reached out to a trainer. He met with me and I told him my story, all my pains, all my hopes and dreams as it pertained to weight loss and he LISTENED. And he designed a workout plan specific to me.
HOW LONG AFTER YOU STARTED DID YOU BEGIN TO SEE RESULTS OF YOUR WEIGHT LOSS EFFORTS?
1 month I began to see change.
WHAT WAS THE HARDEST PART?
I had to overcome, actually going to the gym alone when I was not training with my trainer and overcome certain exercise that I felt like I could not do.
DID YOU EVER WANT TO GIVE UP? WHAT KEPT YOU GOING?
Yes I did. I started posting about my journey via Facebook and other people were being encouraged and motivated by it. I then realized it was bigger than me. I know I have to keep going for others. If I can help other people make the change, then I’ve made a difference.
DID YOU HIT ANY WEIGHT LOSS PLATEAUS? HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THEM?
Yes, I’ve currently hit a plateau so I decided to remove the scale from the bathroom and just begin to focus on clean eating and working out. Adding more cardio.
HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO LOSE MOST OF THE WEIGHT?
DID YOU HAVE ANY NON-SCALE VICTORIES?
Yes, such as inches loss and goals that I’d set for meal prepping and eating cleaner.
WHAT DOES YOUR DAILY DIET LOOK LIKE COMPARED TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
I drink more water and less carbs. I eat lots of fresh green veggies and protein. I don’t eat alot of sugar, but will have an occasional cheat meal
HOW DOES YOUR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY COMPARE TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
I am able to run during my workouts for several minutes at a time. I am able to leg press 315lbs I lift more weights than I ever could when I was heavier.

- Trust the process
- Have strong support system
- Surround yourself with people who are further along at working out so they can help to motivate you
- Change the way you eat.
- Trust God and pray much.
