45 Pounds Lost: Shedding for my wedding!

WHEN DID YOU START DEVELOPING A WEIGHT PROBLEM?
All throughout high school and college I struggled with my weight. Finally, after working night shift as a nurse I gained 30 plus pounds in a year, and could barely keep up with my medication passes.
HOW DID YOUR WEIGHT AFFECT ANY ASPECT(S) OF YOUR LIFE?
I struggled with day to day tasks which made things hard with my busy career- I was unable to care for patients without being in severe pain after my long shifts from the extra weight being carried around on my body.
WHAT WAS THE “TURNING POINT” THAT GOT YOU STARTED ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY?
My fiancé proposed and I said yes! I wanted to feel confident and healthy on my wedding day, and my fiancé has been my biggest supporter.
HOW DID YOU GET STARTED?
I started the “keto” diet, which is low carb. I swapped chips for roasted caufliower, and candy for sugar free jello. I started exercising with my fiancé and turning our date nights into spin classes and hiking!
HOW LONG AFTER YOU STARTED DID YOU BEGIN TO SEE RESULTS OF YOUR WEIGHT LOSS EFFORTS?
I have seen the biggest drop since Christmas 2015

My emotional eating after a tough day at work!
DID YOU EVER WANT TO GIVE UP? WHAT KEPT YOU GOING?
There are times I have wanted to indulge, but I keep my eye focused on my wedding cake prize

My wedding dress looks beautiful!! It zips and actually needs many alterations due to being too BIG! I also looked and felt beautiful and confident at my bridal shower- see the after picture!
WHAT DOES YOUR DAILY DIET LOOK LIKE COMPARED TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
Now I eat a lot of lean proteins, low carb whole wheat wraps, vegetables, broiled vegetables, low fat dairy. Prior I was all about cannolis, pasta, Italian cookies, comfort foods.
HOW DOES YOUR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY COMPARE TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
I now run circles at work! I also am able to complete spin classes and feel amazing
MY WEIGHT LOSS TIPS & TRICKS
- Always eat breakfast! Never skip a meal. Food is fuel
- When you want to give up keep going- make a motivational reminder on your phone for when you need to go to the gym- before pictures work great!
- Find a workout buddy/partner and encourage each other
- Start having healthy date nights with your significant other- go for hikes, reservoir walks, cook a healthy meal together, try new recipes! Get moving
