WHEN DID YOU START DEVELOPING A WEIGHT PROBLEM?
I have been overweight my entire life. I don’t remember a time I wasn’t bullied or told I was fat.

HOW DID YOUR WEIGHT AFFECT ANY ASPECT(S) OF YOUR LIFE?
I always appeared confident in front of people but inside I was so ashamed of myself. I could never be my true self and I was always over compensating by being bossy, funny, or whatever I thought people would like and respect.

WHAT WAS THE “TURNING POINT” THAT GOT YOU STARTED ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY?
My pant size was just getting bigger and bigger while my face was getting fuller. I couldn’t feel sexy in anything anymore!

HOW DID YOU GET STARTED?
I first did a 6 week fitness camp where I lost 20 pounds and then 5 pounds on my own after I left. The problem with that was I wasn’t accountable for my workouts or eating because I had someone pushing/motivating me 24/7. I also had every meal cooked for me which was nice but unrealistic. I gained all 25 pounds back and when I saw I was back to 208, I joined Beachbody and it’s been an amazing journey ever since!

HOW LONG AFTER YOU STARTED DID YOU BEGIN TO SEE RESULTS OF YOUR WEIGHT LOSS EFFORTS?
Immediately by combining portion control and daily workouts.

WHAT WAS THE HARDEST PART?
Eating!!! I always want to eat everything. One day I told myself, “Girl, you know what that tastes like and you don’t need it!” I now tell myself that constantly.

DID YOU EVER WANT TO GIVE UP? WHAT KEPT YOU GOING?
Since joining Beachbody, I have not had one desire to give up. I make poor decisions sometimes and I occasionally take an extra rest day but I have never thought about stopping! I have a great support system and I want to be healthy for my future.

DID YOU HIT ANY WEIGHT LOSS PLATEAUS? HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THEM?
Yes! Ugh 20 pounds. I could not get past the 20 pound mark. SO, I switched up my program to one that was a bit more intense and I hit that 25 pound mark like nothing. I’m currently trying to get through 25 to make it to 30!

HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO LOSE MOST OF THE WEIGHT?
About 10 months. I had both of my grandparents pass away in the fall and had a minor setback.

DID YOU HAVE ANY NON-SCALE VICTORIES?
Oh yes! My tight clothes now fit like a glove, this is the most consistent I’ve ever been with healthy eating, and my energy level is ridiculous!

WHAT DOES YOUR DAILY DIET LOOK LIKE COMPARED TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
I portion and plan everything ahead of time. I rarely eat out anymore. I used to look at my food portioning as if it were per meal. Now I look at it as an entire day. I was eating wayyyyy more carbs than I should’ve been.

HOW DOES YOUR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY COMPARE TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
I am a workout machine! I love long power walks and my daily videos! I used to just sit on the couch or in my bed watching TV. Now I can’t sit still!

MY WEIGHT LOSS TIPS & TRICKS

  1. Portion!!!!!
  2. Cut out the processed food and buy actual ingredients!
  3. Get a cookbook that focuses on healthy options that taste great. I recommend Fixate and SkinnyTaste
  4. Be consistent with working out. Even if that means you don’t work out on the weekends but you stick with it through the week days. Plan it into your schedule!
  5. Love yourself through the whole process. Being skinny doesn’t mean you automatically love yourself.
