AFTER WEIGHT : 128
POUNDS LOST : 200

WHEN DID YOU START DEVELOPING A WEIGHT PROBLEM?
I always had issues with my weight. It started when I was 5 years old when a family member sexually assaulted me. I used food as comfort and a barrier to protect me from the world.

HOW DID YOUR WEIGHT AFFECT ANY ASPECT(S) OF YOUR LIFE?
My weight became so out of control I couldn’t even walk to stores in the mall without having to sit down and rest. My entire body would ache with ever step I took. I had to ask for tables when going out to eat because I didn’t fit in booths. I stopped going to movies and shows because I couldn’t fit into the stadium seats. I needed a seatbelt extender and two seats on the airplane. I was in the very last size the plus size stores offered.

WHAT WAS THE “TURNING POINT” THAT GOT YOU STARTED ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY?
It was my 21st birthday in Las Vegas. We were at the blue man group and I cried the entire show because I simply couldn’t fit into my seat I had cuts from the chair in my body from trying to sit and watch the show. I knew that at 21 I wasn’t going to have a long life if I didn’t do something with my life.

HOW DID YOU GET STARTED?
I seeked out help and had gastric bypass surgery. After surgery I stayed strict to a high protein low fat low carb diet. I ate the exact same thing everyday for a year!

HOW LONG AFTER YOU STARTED DID YOU BEGIN TO SEE RESULTS OF YOUR WEIGHT LOSS EFFORTS?
I lost weight pretty quickly 50 lbs in about a month but I really wasn’t able to see my success in my own eyes really until 2 years after losing my weight

WHAT WAS THE HARDEST PART?
Really I had to overcome myself and my mind. All I could think was I was never going to be successful there was no way I could possibly do this.

DID YOU EVER WANT TO GIVE UP? WHAT KEPT YOU GOING?
the support from Instagram, my family, and friends really kept me going. I hate dissapointing people and I just couldn’t disappoint those supporting me. Also I knew so many people were rooting for me to fail I couldn’t let them win.

DID YOU HIT ANY WEIGHT LOSS PLATEAUS? HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THEM?
I would say for a good 5 months I was stuck. But regardless of the tears and frustration I stayed with the plan and eventually overcame those long months.

HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO LOSE MOST OF THE WEIGHT?
1.5 years

DID YOU HAVE ANY NON-SCALE VICTORIES?
Life. My life is my non scale victory like being able to shop at every store I walk into being a size 0. Playing with my son and never running out of energy. I wasn’t living before now everyday I get to live my life like I always dreamed I would.

WHAT DOES YOUR DAILY DIET LOOK LIKE COMPARED TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
I never realized how crappy I ate when I was obese. McDonald’s everyday all the time large sodas large fries fried foods large meals were rewarding I loved the feeling of full. Now I eat lean proteins and healthy fat type snacks.

HOW DOES YOUR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY COMPARE TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
I get to be out and active everyday! I work out about 4 days a week doing High Intensity Training with a trainer.

  2. Don’t give up
