WHEN DID YOU START DEVELOPING A WEIGHT PROBLEM?

I was 10yrs old when I started to pack on the weight.

HOW DID YOUR WEIGHT AFFECT ANY ASPECT(S) OF YOUR LIFE?
It effected a lot. I was bullied as a child called budda. I kept to myself I was so self conscious.

WHAT WAS THE “TURNING POINT” THAT GOT YOU STARTED ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY?
Turning point was beach pictures taken on vacation.

HOW DID YOU GET STARTED?
I called the bariatric center the day I got back from vacation. I went to my first seminar.

HOW LONG AFTER YOU STARTED DID YOU BEGIN TO SEE RESULTS OF YOUR WEIGHT LOSS EFFORTS?
The first month after I had weight loss surgery

WHAT WAS THE HARDEST PART?
I have pcos and spinal stenosis. So losing weight is even harder. I have a mild case of stenosis in my neck and back so I have to go easy on exercise.

DID YOU EVER WANT TO GIVE UP? WHAT KEPT YOU GOING?
Giving up is not an option. I need to save my life.

DID YOU HIT ANY WEIGHT LOSS PLATEAUS? HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THEM?
I hit my first stall at 3 weeks out. I upped my protein and started losing again.

HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO LOSE MOST OF THE WEIGHT?
I’m 7 months out from rny

DID YOU HAVE ANY NON-SCALE VICTORIES?
Yes. I was a size 28 in pants now a 16. I was a 4x top now an xl.

WHAT DOES YOUR DAILY DIET LOOK LIKE COMPARED TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
I was an emotional eater. I loved eating late at night.

HOW DOES YOUR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY COMPARE TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
I’m less limited. I can walk miles I enjoy activities outside now.

MY WEIGHT LOSS TIPS & TRICKS

  1. Be kind to yourself
  2. Don’t compare your journey to someone else’s
  3. Put the scale away
  4. Drink up. Water, water, water and more water
  5. Protein is key
