WHEN DID YOU START DEVELOPING A WEIGHT PROBLEM?
Years of working and going to college I watch the pounds packing on.
HOW DID YOUR WEIGHT AFFECT ANY ASPECT(S) OF YOUR LIFE?
As I watched myself gain and gain over time, I begin to see myself withdraw from friends, stop shopping and stop going out with my children. I eventually became a hermit. I also began to have knee pain and back pain and realized that if I didn’t want to be crippled I had to motivate myself. I kept a picture on my refrigerater to remind myself everytime I wanted to quit.
WHAT WAS THE “TURNING POINT” THAT GOT YOU STARTED ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY?
Not being able to perform my daily activities without pain.
HOW DID YOU GET STARTED?
I emptied my cupboard of any bread, rice, pasta and sweets (all empty carbs). I emptied my refrigerator of all soda, ice cream and anything that was not healthy. Then, I went shopping and bought lots of protein (fish, chicken, eggs etc.) and replaced rice with quinoa. I continued healthy meal prepping weekly.
HOW LONG AFTER YOU STARTED DID YOU BEGIN TO SEE RESULTS OF YOUR WEIGHT LOSS EFFORTS?
After 1 month I notice I had lost approximately 20 pounds
WHAT WAS THE HARDEST PART?
I had to build my own motivation although my daughters was a there with me motivating me everyday. Being successful at weight loss you have to gain self motivation and confidence to win and that’s what I had to do.
DID YOU EVER WANT TO GIVE UP? WHAT KEPT YOU GOING?
I wanted to give up several times but looking back at where I had come from and the pictures I posted around the house where I wanted to be help me stay on track.
DID YOU HIT ANY WEIGHT LOSS PLATEAUS? HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THEM?
Yes I hit several plateaus my first one was when I reached 40 pounds I remember loosing 5 pounds in a 30 day period. I change up my eating times, my exercise routine and added more protein and the weight begin to shed off again
HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO LOSE MOST OF THE WEIGHT?
It took me 16 months to reach where I am today.
DID YOU HAVE ANY NON-SCALE VICTORIES?
Yes going to the seamstress to get measured for a dress my wait was a 46 when I started whim I got measured it was a 30!
WHAT DOES YOUR DAILY DIET LOOK LIKE COMPARED TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
My daily mean consist of more fruits and vegetables fruits are eaten in the morning at breakfast only because of the high sugar I do 60 grams of protein a day 3 carefully measured meals a day And lots of water. Before the weight loss journey I ate all day everyday water was my enemy, my veggies was only on a burger (lettuce, tomatoe, onion) easily out fast food was daily some times twice.
HOW DOES YOUR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY COMPARE TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
Before my physical activity was walking from the front door to the car. Now I park the furthest at the shopping mall, work out 5 days a week and hot yoga and boxing is my fun activities.

- Drink plenty of water
- Switch up your exercise monthly
- No empty carbohydrates
- Meal prep weekly is the best key.
- Get a workout buddy
