WHEN DID YOU START DEVELOPING A WEIGHT PROBLEM?
I’ve been overweight since I can remember, but I hit my highest weight at 14 years

HOW DID YOUR WEIGHT AFFECT ANY ASPECT(S) OF YOUR LIFE?
I wasn’t able to do things my friends were. I became bullied and ending up being homeschooled because of it.

WHAT WAS THE “TURNING POINT” THAT GOT YOU STARTED ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY?
I’ve gone up in down in weight since forever but when I got truly serious it was my second time hitting that 300lb mark. I just realized if I wanted to live a long happy life I needed to make a change and I did.

HOW DID YOU GET STARTED?
I started out small, just cutting back on calories and doing some fun things on the wii fit. Eventually I upped my exercise and started eating more whole.

HOW LONG AFTER YOU STARTED DID YOU BEGIN TO SEE RESULTS OF YOUR WEIGHT LOSS EFFORTS?
I started losing in the first couple of months but it wasn’t until about 5 months in that I was physically able to see what I had started accomplishing.

WHAT WAS THE HARDEST PART?
Unfortunately my ex husband was of no support to me. I would say more of an enabler, then later in 2014 I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder making things much more difficult because of pain and lack of vitamins.

DID YOU EVER WANT TO GIVE UP? WHAT KEPT YOU GOING?
Of course. At least once a week I had self doubt about what I was doing. Wanted to binge on everything I could see. What kept me going was co workers telling me they were inspired. Couldn’t believe that I had actually become an inspiration.

DID YOU HIT ANY WEIGHT LOSS PLATEAUS? HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THEM?
I’ve hit many over the years but I’ve just stayed persistent. Results will eventually come no matter how maddening it is at the time.

HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO LOSE MOST OF THE WEIGHT?
I would say I lost the most within the first 2 years, then just recently stepped up my game. Not an over night thing.

DID YOU HAVE ANY NON-SCALE VICTORIES?
Fitting into pant sizes I’ve only dreamed of. Fitting comfortable on a plane without having the seatbelt need an extension . Being able to ride amusements in Orlando without being afraid to not fit.

WHAT DOES YOUR DAILY DIET LOOK LIKE COMPARED TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
Used to live off of soda, pizza and snacks. Now I drink a gallon of water a day, snack on fruits and veggies and try to sustain a healthy lifestyle. I’ll still eat pizza because it’s important to balance

HOW DOES YOUR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY COMPARE TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
When I was heavier I couldn’t even walk a quarter of a mile. Now I can walk 5 without any problems.

MY WEIGHT LOSS TIPS & TRICKS

  1. Don’t give up even if you’ve had a bad day.
  2. Track what you eat no matter what
  3. Do some type of exercise 10 minutes a day at least.
  4. Drink your water!
  5. Love yourself through every moment of your journey
