When I started college September 2002

I was always tired, couldn’t get a job, my knees and ankles always hurt, and I couldn’t get pregnant.

Tired of being tired

HOW DID YOU GET STARTED?
I started walking with a friend, counting calories, and tracking my food on my fitness pal.

HOW LONG AFTER YOU STARTED DID YOU BEGIN TO SEE RESULTS OF YOUR WEIGHT LOSS EFFORTS?
3 months

WHAT WAS THE HARDEST PART?
Adjusting my schedule to make time for the gym, also I became obsessed with my scale so learning not to over weigh.

DID YOU EVER WANT TO GIVE UP? WHAT KEPT YOU GOING?
No, I dropped weight so fast it was really addictive

I got pregnant with my daughter and took a year off, learning to juggle work, graduate school, a new baby and the gym was tricky. I set a goal to be pre baby size by her 1st birthday and that motivates me

HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO LOSE MOST OF THE WEIGHT?

DID YOU HAVE ANY NON-SCALE VICTORIES?
Wrapping a towel around me, crossing my legs, getting pregnant

WHAT DOES YOUR DAILY DIET LOOK LIKE COMPARED TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
Before: ate out 2 meals a day

After: from scratch home cooked meals everyday

HOW DOES YOUR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY COMPARE TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
Before: never

After: gym fitness classes 5-6 days a week and 5k and 10k fun runs

MY WEIGHT LOSS TIPS & TRICKS

  1. Weigh and measure everything you put in your mouth.
  2. Found an exercise you love and do it
  3. Don’t be embarrassed to try something new.
  4. Losing lots of weight makes you cold ALL THE TIME.

    Great job! I will just say that if you are cold all time, that’s not normal from weight loss. I also lost over 100lbs and have both hot flashes and can be freezing. When we lose such a dramatic amount of weight, we mess with things like metabolism and hormones. My suggestion to you would be to have a full, comprehensive thyroid panel done. Cold all the time could indicate hypothyroid. Better safe!

    Wow! I could write the same story! Except I haven’t lost all the weight yet. How long did it take to get preg after the loss?
