WHEN DID YOU START DEVELOPING A WEIGHT PROBLEM?
I’ve been overweight all my life but a my last year of middle school is when I started gaining a lot more weight. I have to say I stated gaining weight because I was going back and forth from Mexico to the United States.
HOW DID YOUR WEIGHT AFFECT ANY ASPECT(S) OF YOUR LIFE?
I was unhappy, not motivated to do anything, and sad all the time. Until this day my confidence is not where it should be and I am still self-conscious but I understand that I am a work in progress!
WHAT WAS THE “TURNING POINT” THAT GOT YOU STARTED ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY?
I remember like it was yesterday waking up on April 13th of 2015 and walking straight to the scale and thinking to myself “what have you done? is 400 next?”
HOW DID YOU GET STARTED?
the first step I took in my journey was changing the way I eat completely. I went to the grocery store and got nothing but healthy food and water. A week after that I joined the gym and I have missed only a week in almost 2 years. I googled everything and until this day I find new things everyday to make my journey more exiting I guess.
HOW LONG AFTER YOU STARTED DID YOU BEGIN TO SEE RESULTS OF YOUR WEIGHT LOSS EFFORTS?
I started seeing results the same month as far as my weight going down. about 3-4 months I noticed my clothes being bigger and my body changing.
WHAT WAS THE HARDEST PART?
I have PCOS and the many side effects it causes. PCOS is different for everybody but when I say I have pretty much all the side effects I do. I have irregular periods, I am tired a lot for no reason, I have physical features that come from it, and the biggest reason why I gained weight if you ask me.
DID YOU EVER WANT TO GIVE UP? WHAT KEPT YOU GOING?
YES!! Sometimes when everything in my life goes wrong I get in this horrible mood where I want to give up. I created my IG to keep me motivated because I know people are counting on me but my biggest motivation is my daughter. I want to show her that if you work hard anything is possible.
DID YOU HIT ANY WEIGHT LOSS PLATEAUS? HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THEM?
my whole journey I’ve hit plateaus but I always changed something in my diet or exercise and eventually overcome it.
HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO LOSE MOST OF THE WEIGHT?
I have 27 more pounds to go but I would say about 14 months or so to lose most of what I’ve lost so far.
DID YOU HAVE ANY NON-SCALE VICTORIES?
WHAT DOES YOUR DAILY DIET LOOK LIKE COMPARED TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
when I was at my heaviest I would eat out every day, drink nothing but juice, and would eat until I was sick to my stomach. I eat everything but junk food was my problem.
HOW DOES YOUR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY COMPARE TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
I now know that I can do anything I set my mind to because my body might feel tired but my brain makes the last choice. I am so active now and I have a lot more energy to play with my soon to be 3 year old. I hates working out but now I could not see my life without going to the gym. I find myself at my most peaceful time when I work out.
MY WEIGHT LOSS TIPS & TRICKS
- Everything does not work for everybody so do what works for you!
- Drink a lot of water!
- take your vitamins!
- Do not starve yourself. Eat every 2-3 hours to keep your metabolism going.
- It all starts in the kitchen. Substitute the bad thing you love to eat for healthy alternatives because there are a lot of them out there.
