WHEN DID YOU START DEVELOPING A WEIGHT PROBLEM?

After high school

HOW DID YOUR WEIGHT AFFECT ANY ASPECT(S) OF YOUR LIFE?
I wanted to hide and avoided many social situations

WHAT WAS THE “TURNING POINT” THAT GOT YOU STARTED ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY?
As a nurse, seeing my patients with heart failure, diabetes and strokes, I knew I was headed to that as my future.

HOW DID YOU GET STARTED?
After my boyfriend started eating healthier for about one week I decided to join him so we could do it together and encourage each other.

HOW LONG AFTER YOU STARTED DID YOU BEGIN TO SEE RESULTS OF YOUR WEIGHT LOSS EFFORTS?
By day 3 I felt better and could reach my shoes easier!

WHAT WAS THE HARDEST PART?

DID YOU EVER WANT TO GIVE UP? WHAT KEPT YOU GOING?
It may be cliche but I always remember the saying that is so true… nothing tastes as good as thin feels.

DID YOU HIT ANY WEIGHT LOSS PLATEAUS? HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THEM?
Pure determination. I knew as long as I kept to my diet plan, I would see those pounds come off eventually.

HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO LOSE MOST OF THE WEIGHT?
Within the first 6 months I lost 60 pounds.

DID YOU HAVE ANY NON-SCALE VICTORIES?

WHAT DOES YOUR DAILY DIET LOOK LIKE COMPARED TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
Hmmm, Mcdonalds and pizza and ice cream. Now I eat eggs, sausage, delicious salads, salmon, veggies. I eat whole foods now.

HOW DOES YOUR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY COMPARE TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
I used to never exercise. Now I run 3-7 miles 3-4 times a week.

MY WEIGHT LOSS TIPS & TRICKS

  1. Don’t go hungry! Enjoy a low carb high fat diet. Eat some bacon, cheese or some nuts. No reason to ever be hungry.
  2. Move! Whether you take a walk, stretch on your living room floor, take a bike ride or go for a swim… just move!
  3. Don’t beat yourself up. Every day is a new day and a new beginning. We are not perfect. Do what you can. Never give up! Don’t compare yourself to anyone!
