WHEN DID YOU START DEVELOPING A WEIGHT PROBLEM?
When I was in middle school, I stopped being as active and wanted to be inside more. I noticed the weight really start in 6th grade.
HOW DID YOUR WEIGHT AFFECT ANY ASPECT(S) OF YOUR LIFE?
The weight affected EVERYTHING! I’ve dealt with depression, in silence. I was uncomfortable in my own skin. No self confidence or self esteem. I allowed my ex’s to treat me how I treated myself, instead of building me up, they broke me down.
WHAT WAS THE “TURNING POINT” THAT GOT YOU STARTED ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY?
A baby! I so badly want to be a mommy! I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 21. I used PCOS as my excuse to gain! “It’s just so easy to gain….and so hard to lose!” Finally, finally I hit a point where I said ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! My husband and I have been together for 6 years, since the beginning and at my heaviest he looked at me and would tell me how beautiful I am, and perfect I am, and….. SEXY! ? Yea! What?? So finally I decided, “you know what? I want to look like how he describes me”, and I want a baby! I HAVE pcos! PCOS doesn’t HAVE ME! it’s my body, and I want a baby! I fight for what I want! So i did, i fought!
HOW DID YOU GET STARTED?
I started by just simply walking, then Zumba classes, then on to the much more intense work out classes. Weights and running! The food wasn’t to hard because I actually love “healthy” food. It was the portion and being honest with myself that was a little difficult. But certainly loved salt and deep fried too!
HOW LONG AFTER YOU STARTED DID YOU BEGIN TO SEE RESULTS OF YOUR WEIGHT LOSS EFFORTS?
I felt amazing instantly, but I started seeing results in about 2 weeks!
WHAT WAS THE HARDEST PART?
PCOS, it makes it difficult. The amount of pain I’m in daily, and the fact that IT IS harder the lose weight, definitely makes you discouraged.
DID YOU EVER WANT TO GIVE UP? WHAT KEPT YOU GOING?
I never really wanted to give up. But I want to eat a big fat burger and have fries! But, you didn’t work that hard to just fail yourself!
DID YOU HIT ANY WEIGHT LOSS PLATEAUS? HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THEM?
Towards the end of getting the 100lbs off, I hit plateaus like crazy! To get out of it, I would really change up me work out, drink a bit more water, and eat about 200-400 calories less a day.
HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO LOSE MOST OF THE WEIGHT?
I lost 100 lbs in exactly one year!
DID YOU HAVE ANY NON-SCALE VICTORIES?
Clothes fitting, feeling comfortable in bed…. with the lights on, ya know? The doctore taking me off birth control to try having a baby FINALLY! We actually ended up conceiving that week! Unfortunately, we lost our little miracle at 7 weeks. But we’re trying again!
WHAT DOES YOUR DAILY DIET LOOK LIKE COMPARED TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
It’s a lot smaller, a lot more water, i never actually drank water before! A lot more veggies! ABSOLUTELY NO FAST FOOD OR WINDOW FOOD in 2 years!
HOW DOES YOUR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY COMPARE TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
When I was heavier I did absolutely nothing!! I barely wanted to walk to the bathroom! Now, I park at the back of the parking lot, I take 7 mile walks for fun, I hike….run on the hiking trail! I started playing rugby, I did a couple 5ks!
MY WEIGHT LOSS TIPS & TRICKS
- Eat healthy
- Don’t deprive yourself from a treat! Or you end up giving in and over indulging!
- DON’T GIVE UP!
- Stay positive and happy!
